Job Overview
This position is for an Administrative Assistant, Massive Data Institute, McCourt School of Public Policy – Georgetown University, to support faculty and staff conducting research projects for government and philanthropic sponsors. The position will provide primary administrative support to a research team with multiple grants, monitoring and documenting each project’s milestones and deliverables. Event support (including planning, hands-on implementation, and post-event follow-up) accounts for a substantial work task for this role.
Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
Acting as the initial contact person for all inquiries for the Executive Director
Responsible for administrative tasks involved in conference planning, travel arrangements, and training registration for the Massive Data Institute Governance Group employees, and providing grant management support as needed.
Assists with a broad array of general administrative duties including the scheduling of meetings, conference rooms, deliveries
Tracks and processes expense reports, invoices, and purchase orders
Supports project management duties and document management
Obtains & reviews competitive vendor quotes for office equipment/supplies, facilities requests, and catering.
Coordinates with other Massive Data Institute and McCourt faculty and staff regarding supplies and events.
Supports social media strategy and website management.
Provides light note-taking support during meetings, capturing key highlights and follow-up items.
Work Interactions
Reports to the Executive Director. Primarily supports the research faculty, staff, and student assistants in the Massive Data Institute Governance Group, and will collaborate with Massive Data Institute Main Campus faculty and staff to support our research, projects, and events.
Requirements and Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED required.
2-3 years of demonstrated office management experience.
Must have extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and GSuites equivalents. Experience with Box, Github, Slack, and Adobe a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to organize and manage multiple projects, and tasks simultaneously (including tracking and coordinating activities, setting, and adhering to deadlines).
Demonstrated interpersonal skills, along with a proven ability to work independently and under pressure.
Ability to work comfortably and collaboratively with both senior executive professionals and support staff and be part of teams.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Proactively identifies problems and proposes or implements solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Business school, Associate’s degree or equivalent is a plus.
Familiarity with using large language models (LLMs) or similar AI tools to improve workplace efficiency is a plus.

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$19.20 - $28.70Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
