Position Summary: The Administrative Support II position supports Stetson University by helping ensure the effective operation of the Economics, Political Science, and Philosophy Departments and serving as a main point of contact for the office. Serving as a member of the departmental team, this position provides administrative support for faculty, students, and department operations, requiring initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in a fast-paced environment. In alignment with Stetson’s Strategic Priorities, this role supports a collaborative, student-centered, and relationship-rich culture of inclusive excellence.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the department office and provide administrative support for daily office operations for Economics, Political Science, and Philosophy.
- Efficiently manage budget paperwork including departmental supplies, travel funds, office machines, and occasional events.
- Hire and supervise student employees in the office.
- Serve as a point of contact for the University community and the public via phone, email, and in-person inquiries.
- Support departmental and programmatic activities including Model Senate, honor societies, internship programs, and Philosophy department functions by completing office tasks, maintaining communication with campus offices, and coordinating special events.
- Maintain websites and digital communications for the departments and associated programs.
- Handle special projects and administrative tasks as assigned by department chairs.
- Perform other site- and position-specific duties as assigned.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity and discretion.
- Knowledge of Stetson’s administrative systems, Teams, Canvas, SCT Banner, Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat preferred.

Required Qualifications: This position requires:
- Associate degree.
- One to three years of administrative support experience required; clerical or administrative experience in higher education preferred.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications: The ideal candidate’s qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge of Stetson University administrative structure.
- Experience supporting multiple academic departments and faculty.
- Experience with Banner, Canvas, Teams, Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat.
Work Environment: This position works primarily in an office setting with frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The role requires managing multiple priorities, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting several academic departments in a collaborative environment.
