Director of Legislative and Government Affairs

Job Description

The Director of Legislative and Government Affairs at Eccalon is responsible for leading the development and execution of policies and strategic objectives related to local, state, and federal government affairs on behalf of the company. In this role, the Director cultivates and maintains strong, productive relationships with government entities, regulatory authorities, legislative committees, and key policymakers. Serving as Eccalon's primary legislative advocate, the Director represents and safeguards the company's interests in the public policy arena while advising senior leadership on the establishment of corporate strategies, policies, and operational plans to ensure full alignment with evolving government laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement government affairs strategies to advance organizational goals
• Monitor legislative, regulatory, and political developments that impact the organization
• Engage with legislators, regulators, government agencies, and their staff to advocate for the organization's policy objectives
• Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, policymakers, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders
• Lead the creation of policy positions, advocacy materials, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership
• Oversee the drafting of policy briefs, position statements, comment letters, and related materials
• Represent the organization at hearings, meetings, industry associations, and public forums
• Provide regular briefings to executive leadership on the political landscape, strategic opportunities, and potential threats
• Collaborate with internal teams to assess policy impacts and align advocacy efforts
• Track, analyze, and report on policy trends and emerging issues
• Ensure compliance with lobbying regulations, reporting requirements, and internal policies
• Manage PAC activities (if applicable), including compliance with FEC rules and all applicable laws, managing strategy, and overseeing reporting and record keeping.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, government, public administration, or a related field
• Master's degree in public policy, law, business, or a related field is desired
• 10+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, legislative work, or regulatory engagement
• Proven experience working with elected officials, policymakers, and industry coalitions
