About this Opportunity

The Election Specialist - Training is responsible for the administration of the training program for precinct officials. As a member of the Education and Outreach team, this role also assists with activities related to enhancing public knowledge and access to elections. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop training curriculum.
  • Develop, design, and maintain all election official instructional materials.
  • Conduct training needs assessments to enhance developed training programs.
  • Conduct virtual and/or in-person training classes.

The role requires availability to work outside of normal business hours, particularly during peak election periods and emergency situations.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; 
  • Associate degree with at least two years of administrative work; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Prior experience in training others and writing training manuals is preferred. 

Special Requirements
  • Must obtain NC Notary Public within 6 months of employment.  
  • Must be certified or obtain certification as a North Carolina Elections Administrator from the State Board of Elections within three years of employment.

Physical Requirements

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
