Job Description

Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work facilitating all aspects of the voter education, outreach, and precinct official processes, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Elections Deputy Director. 

Please note, mandatory overtime is required during active election cycles.

Position Responsibilities

  • Designs, executes, and evaluates comprehensive voter education campaigns aimed at increasing voter registration and turnout across diverse demographics.
  • Serves as the primary liaison to community organizations, schools, advocacy groups, and underrepresented populations to demystify the voting process.
  • Drafts accessible, non-partisan educational materials, including brochures, website content, and social media updates explaining voting rights, deadlines, and procedures.
  • Coordinates and represents the Elections Office at community events, town halls, high school registration drives, and other public venues.
  • Assists leadership with press releases and public inquiries regarding voting accessibility and educational resources as requested.
  • Develops and executes targeted strategies to recruit a diverse pipeline of dependable precinct officials.
  • Manages the intake process for new precinct officials, ensuring all legal eligibility requirements, tax documentation, and other onboarding requirements are completed accurately.
  • Assists in designing and facilitating engaging, legally compliant training sessions (both in-person and digital) covering election laws, voting equipment operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Utilizes election management software to assign, schedule, and track precinct officials across all voting precincts, ensuring appropriate staffing ratios and technical support.
  • Provides real-time administrative and troubleshooting support to precinct officials on Election Day as part of the Election Day Call Center and manage the post-election payroll reconciliation process.
  • Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer.
  • Performs related tasks as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge of federal, state, and local election laws; knowledge of the election process; knowledge of office practices and procedures; rigorous attention to detail; skill in the use of office equipment; skill in interpersonal communication; skill in providing clear directions to assigned staff and evaluating work; skill in communicating both verbally and in writing; skill in the use of basic business math; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to use computers and related software programs; ability to handle customer relations and conflict resolution with tact and diplomacy; ability to prioritize tasks; ability to access information or to explain programs and policies; ability to interpret and apply regulations, policies, and procedures; ability to maintain records, logs, and special reports; ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and expeditiously perform multiple tasks; ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality; ability to work in a fast paced and quickly changing work environment; ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Education, Experience, and Special Requirements

High school diploma or GED and one year of experience working in a Board of Elections Office, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Bachelor's degree in public administration, business, or related field preferred. 

Special Requirements:

  • valid driver's license
  • must be certified Notary Public or willing to take necessary steps to obtain within 6 months and maintain certification.

Physical Requirements:

Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget and market considerations.
