The Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Government Affairs to lead our engagement with federal, state, and local government entities. This role will be critical in shaping policy, building relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring Mariana Minerals maintains a strong voice in the regulatory and legislative landscape affecting critical minerals, energy transition, and national security.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy aligned with Mariana’s business objectives across federal, state, and local levels

  • Serve as Mariana’s primary liaison to government officials and regulators, maintaining deep relationships with key agencies (DOE, DOW, DOI, EPA), and congressional stakeholders

  • Shape and advocate for policy positions related to critical minerals, energy transition, trade, and industrial incentives

  • Advise executive leadership on policy, regulatory, and political developments impacting mining, energy, AI infrastructure, and defense supply chains

  • Monitor, analyze, and influence relevant legislation, regulations, agency actions, and funding opportunities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key agencies and stakeholders, including DOE, DOD, DOI, EPA, and congressional staff

Desired Qualifications

  • 10+ years leading federal government affairs or public policy at the national level

  • Demonstrated ability to influence legislation, regulation, and agency outcomes through senior-level relationships

  • Deep expertise in Congressional processes, federal agencies, and interagency dynamics

  • Direct experience advancing policy related to critical minerals, energy, infrastructure, or national security supply chains

  • Established, trusted relationships with key congressional committees and federal agencies

  • Strong strategic judgment with a track record of translating policy outcomes into business and execution advantage

  • Prior senior experience on Capitol Hill or within a federal agency strongly preferred
