The NYC Commission on Gender Equity (CGE), housed within the NYC Mayor’s Office of Equity and Racial Justice, is leading the City’s efforts to make sure every girl, woman, intersex, transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary person throughout the five boroughs is treated equally and feels safe. We are putting the full force of municipal government, the city’s largest employer, to work on behalf of this cause. CGE works collaboratively with City agencies on three focus areas: economic mobility and opportunity, health and reproductive justice, and safety.
Policy Analysts are key members of CGE’s Policy and Programs team. The Policy Analysts will conduct research, draft written materials, and provide coordination and project support to advance gender equity across NYC agencies and communities. The positions report to the Chief of Policy and Strategic Learning.
CGE is recruiting for two (2) COMMUNITY COORDINATORS to function as POLICY ANALYSTS who will:
- Research, Policy Analysis, and Content Development
- Research cross-cutting gender equity issues that impact women, girls, transgender, intersex, gender non-conforming, and non-binary New Yorkers using an intersectional lens.
- Develop written materials including, but not limited to, issue briefs, memos, presentations, fact sheets, meeting summaries, testimony, remarks, resources, and reports for internal and external audiences.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data, identifying trends and making policy recommendations to support gender equity goals.
- Track relevant city, state, and federal developments, and summarize implications for CGE priorities and workstreams.
- Prepare background materials in advance of meetings, hearings, and public engagements, synthesizing complex information into clear recommendations. Project Management, Stakeholder Engagement, and Team Support
- Staff relevant taskforces, workgroups, and interagency collaborations.
- Maintain shared folders and documentation, ensuring accurate notes and effective organization of CGE deliverables.
- Represent CGE as appropriate at internal and external meetings, convenings, and events, and share key updates with the team.
- Coordinate meetings, events, and public engagement activities with stakeholders in collaboration with CGE’s Communications and Public Engagement team.
- Assisting as needed in the supervision and management of graduate interns.
Hours/Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
