Job Opening:
Public Affairs Volunteer Organizer; Full-Time (37.5 hours per week); Non-Exempt
Location: Albany Administrative Office, 855 Central Avenue 3rd Floor Albany NY 12206
Within the UHPP service area of Albany, Rensselaer, Columbia and Greene counties, to recruit, educate and effectively mobilize the largest possible number of advocates and volunteers on behalf of the UHPP mission and reproductive justice. Strategically organizing our advocates to leverage the Planned Parenthood brand to create social change.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of the Chief External Affairs Officer, the Public Affairs Volunteer Organizer is responsible for the promotion—to the fullest extent possible consistent with its 501 (c) (3) status—of UHPP’s public affairs positions. Such responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
· Participate, on behalf of UHPP, in community coalition building by attending meetings, events, and engage partners on issues importation to Planned Parenthood and our mission.
· Develop cultivation plans to move volunteers to engage with the Planned Parenthood mission more, and in new ways
· Engage in the full cycle recruiting and onboarding of volunteers including creating and facilitating general volunteer trainings, and volunteer trainings specific to particular roles, creating and posting volunteer openings, prescreening and interviewing of candidates, working with managers to identify the right talent for volunteers, interns and student preceptors. Including communicating personally with volunteers on a consistent basis
· Tracking volunteer and advocates hours in VAN and producing monthly and quarterly reports for internal documentation, PPFA, AACS and other reporting when necessary.
· Represent UHPP at outreach events; assist in organizing, scheduling and preparing for events.
· Cultivate and grow UHPP’s PPGen program on local college campuses
· Other department activities as assigned by the Chief External Affairs Officer (CXO)

Education, Experience & Expectations
· Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Communications, Public Affairs or Public Policy, Human Services, or similar field.
· Strong communications skills including public speaking and human relations skills.
· Ability to utilize social networking and web based recruitment and engagement tools.
· Familiarity with data base maintenance and prior experience in a supervisory or program coordination capacity preferred.
· Ability to work independently and have a “can do” attitude.
· Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
· Commitment to the mission of Planned Parenthood.
· Qualified driver’s license and daily availability to an automobile
