This Position is ONLY Open to Montgomery County Government Employees:

  1. Current Montgomery County Government employees;
  2. Montgomery County employees who were affected by a reduction-in-force and currently have RIF priority rights;
  3. Active Montgomery County local fire and rescue department volunteers with at least 50 points under the length of service award program (LOSAP); or
  4. Active Project SEARCH Interns or former Montgomery County Government Customized Employment Public Interns, or Project SEARCH Interns within 24 months of completion of internship.

The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $59,897 per year to $84,890 per year, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Office of the County Council is seeking to hire a Legislative Services Coordinator (LSC) to serve as the receptionist and perform advanced administrative duties for the Central Staff team.  The LSC is expected to communicate effectively, work collaboratively with staff at all levels, engage with constituents and residents on a daily basis, and adapt to evolving administrative needs.

What You'll Be Doing

Receptionist Job Duties Include:


  • Welcome visitors by greeting them in a warm and friendly manner, and directing them appropriately
  • Answer and direct phone calls in a polite and friendly manner 
  • Inform visitors by answering or referring inquiries
  • Maintain reception area and all common areas in a clean and tidy manner at all times
  • Respond to inquiries from constituents, citizens groups, County government officials and business organizations
  • Perform other job-related administrative duties as assigned, such as data entry, managing conference rooms, reviewing and preparing documents, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments
  • Maintains professionalism and confidentiality while engaging with constituents, residents, and staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Four (4) or more years of administrative/office support experience.


  • Education: Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland.


  • Equivalency: An equivalent combination of experience and education may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences

The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas:


  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • Experience providing direct customer service
  • Experience providing office or administrative support;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience maintaining databases
  • Experience or general knowledge of Montgomery County Government programs and services
