Summary

Provide technical assistance as required in a professional manner including inventory, backup, reset, repair, testing, training, preparation, deployment, setup, breakdown, and return of all election equipment.  Act as liaison for election officials and perform other required activities during each election. Use third-party Elections-based software along with word processing, spreadsheet, database, diagramming, e-mail, and modern technology tracking systems as required, including mapping and logistics software, to determine the most efficient routing for delivery of equipment and supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs maintenance and testing on the ballot scanning and marking devices connected to various hardware and software platforms.
  2. Provides technical support of Electronic Poll Book connectivity to the online voter registration system and early voter posting system including installation of printers and network communications devices.   Schedules installation by contacting clients via phone.
  3. Notifies supervisor of any mechanical, maintenance or safety issues with recurring problems related to any vehicles owned or rented by the department.
  4. Provides assistance to early voting clerks and election officials in a clear and professional manner via phone or in person.
  5. Performs pre-tests and public tests and backups of all election equipment and components to include ballot proofing, distribution and auditory testing.
  6. Delivers and returns ePollbooks and the voting equipment used for early voting and election day to polling sites, ensuring equipment is operating properly prior to commencement of early and election day voting with backups performed as required.
  7. Uses mapping and logistic software to find and follow the most efficient routes for the delivery of early voting and election day equipment.
  8. Utilizes modern technology to record the movement of the voting equipment, components and supplies throughout the election process.
  9. Assists in election official training by setting up equipment, chairs, and video equipment.
  10. Trains, tests and provides technical support for voting system to ensure connectivity and accuracy at County regional pick up sites prior to and on election night.
  11. Surveys and creates diagrams of polling places for proper deployment and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other safety issues to ensure that voters with disabilities have the ability to cast their votes safely and without assistance.
  12. Maintains and deploys, if necessary, mobile generators with extension cords, fans, chairs and tables in case of interruption to power at the voting location.
  13. Acts as a liaison for election activities related to election services contracts with municipalities, school districts, and political parties.
  14. Attends training as assigned by supervisor to maintain, enhance, or acquire job skills.
  15. Operates forklift and pallet jacks to move equipment, components, and supplies from storage units to the main building and transfers documents slated for destruction to recycling.
  16. Performs all other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

NOTEYou must fill out the work history and education sections of application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified.

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Two (2) full-time years in related field.  
  • Associate's degree in Electronics or Computer Science preferred. 
  • Proficiency in electronics and experience in word processing and spreadsheet software preferred. 
  • Technical experience with multimedia equipment. 
  • Valid and current driver license and good driving record. 
  • Must obtain Industrial Truck Lift Certification within six (6) months of hire.  
  • Must have good oral and communications skills.

If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing
 
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, lift, push and pull. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds is required. Incumbent will be expected to push and pull up to 500 pounds. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
