Job Description

Performs technical and administrative work in the areas of Voter Registration, List Maintenance, Petition Filing and Research, Customer Service, Statutory Compliance Mailings, and general office support. This position works under the supervision of the Director of Elections.

Position Responsibilities

Departmental hours of operation are 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Mandatory Overtime to include weekend, holiday and evening hours is REQUIRED during active Election Cycles or other times of high need.

  • Enter data from voter registration forms into a computer system.

  • Review previous entered voter registrations for accuracy.

  • Remove individual voter records and attach documentation.

  • Research provisional voter applications during the canvass process.

  • Assists in local and state candidate filing, collects filing fees and notarizes documents

  • Perform and supervise daily mail operations.

  • Answer phone calls relating to the voting process.

  • Direct calls to appropriate staff members

  • Adhere to security policies regarding confidential voter information.

  • Seasonal oversight of office temporary staff operations

  • Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteers

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment; general knowledge of Federal, State and
municipal voter registration laws and regulations; general knowledge of voting procedures, maintenance and
protection of voting registration lists and records; ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility; ability to
establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; ability to type
accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to follow oral and written directions.


Education, Experience, and Special Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. One year of experience in data entry and/or customer service is preferred.

Special Requirements
Must be Registered Voter or become registered upon hire.
Possess NC Notary Public Certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
Possess NC Election Administrator Certification or be able to obtain within five years of hire.
Ability to travel to State Board of Elections Conferences, and other conferences as needed/required.

Salary will be determined by internal equity, candidate's qualifications, budget, and market considerations.
