Job Responsibilities

The Kent County Elections Office is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Clerk III to provide advanced clerical support in a fast-paced, public-facing environment. The successful candidate will perform a range of administrative and technical duties that are essential to supporting the integrity and accuracy of the electoral process. This position requires a strong understanding of departmental procedures, state election laws, and relevant administrative regulations. The individual in this role can expect to: 

  • Maintain and update databases related to candidate and election information
  • Test election equipment and ballots
  • Enter and monitor data in the Qualified Voter File (QVF)
  • Assist with election audits and canvases
  • Serve as a point of contact for local clerks, candidates, and members of the public regarding elections and campaign finance
  • Review and process Campaign Finance filings and applicable fees
  • Process accounts payable entries
  • Order and manage supplies for office operations
  • Remain informed and current on election laws and procedures
  • Maintain State-required election accreditation
  • Operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent, combined with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience of a progressively responsible nature. Prefer individuals with a minimum of 2 years of election experience. 

Excellent customer service skills are required. Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The individual must have good oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, and be able to work independently. Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
